TOPICS: Tom Nolan – NOD Apiary Products – Varroa management and proper use of Formic Pro
Speaker: Tom Nolan – North American Sales Representative – NOD Apiary Products Ltd.
NOD Apiary Products Ltd is a Canadian company formed in 1997 by beekeepers in Canada. Honey bee health is their focus. The founders at NOD saw formic acid as the active ingredient most likely to be developed into a practical, sustainable miticide for the beekeeping industry. Properly formulated, it could control varroa, tracheal and tropilaelaps mites, protect the image of honey as a wholesome food, and leave no residues in the hive components.
Formic Pro is an all-natural product that targets varroa mites where they reproduce, under the brood cap. Manufactured in ready-to-use strips, it features an extended shelf-life of 24 months and no storage limitations. Formic Pro comes in easy-to-use strips that are specially formulated with the active ingredient: formic acid. This organic acid penetrates the brood cap, targeting mites where they reproduce and protecting baby bees when they’re most vulnerable.
